Dinner and a Movie Premiere

Last night was full of excitement and fun!  I had a wonderful meal at Kazoku Sushi with some good friends that I hadn't seen in a while.  Then, it was off to the premiere of "Breast Picture" at the New Beverly Cinema. The cinema was packed and I was thrilled to see all of the cast and crew once again. The movie was hilarious and the room was roaring with laughter. I am really proud to have worked on this project and I predict good things in it's future.

Busby's and an Audition

It was a fun bash at Busby's for our friend Marc's birthday.  I've never seen this place look more glamourous!  Marc's girlfriend, Marla, did an amazing job with the ambience! There was a live band, alcohol, and a popcorn machine.  Who could ask for anything more?  I definitely recommend this place for any private party! The staff was really friendly and attentive, which doesn't happen too often in Los Angeles. Then, it was off to Katsuya for late night sushi.  I didn't stay out too late though, I had a commercial audition the next day.

A Get Together

My friend Jym had a get together at his house last night and the weather could not have been anymore perfect! Jym has a gorgeous pad in the hills of Silverlake with a large deck perfect for parties and an amazing view of downtown Los Angeles. His friend Joey provided the DELICIOUS food for the evening. It was so great to catch up with everyone! Then, it was off to the Blue Monkey Lounge in Hollywood to meet up with my friend Heather and dance to some old school hip hop.

Party in Downtown LA

Some friends were staying at the Standard downtown so we decided to head over. I had never been to the downtown Standard, only the Hollywood location. It was such a disappointment! Although the rooftop venue is gorgeous, this place is way over rated! Where do I even begin? The drinks were very pricey and not just because I was ordering top shelf. It didn't taste top shelf, even though I watched them pour it from the bottle. You know what that means, someone is refilling the bottles! So, I basically paid $12 a drink for Seagrams instead of my usual Ketel One. The music was also not up to par. The DJ had no idea how to transition between songs and his selection was weak. The dance floor was still packed though and I still got my boogie on. Until a crazy lady started yelling at one of my friends. She quickly pushed us out of her dance floor "square" stating that was her area. She screamed that she had gotten to the dance floor earlier in the day just to clean off her "square" so she could dance on it! LOL Then to top all of the craziness off, they didn't do a last call and just shut down the bar at 1 am. I don't think I'll be going back to this place!  But I did have a blast hanging with my friends and that's really all that matters!

Saturday Night Birthday Party

I went to Happy Ending bar on Sunset to celebrate my friend's birthday last night. The place was packed and the crowd was drunk! I've never been spilled on by so many people in my entire life!  But the DJ was playing some decent music so that made up for it. I knew one of the bartenders, so I got the hook up on some STRONG drinks. Which is probably why I couldn't even walk in my heels at the end of the night! Oops! :)

Dinner at Katsuya

I finally had AMAZING sushi!  I had been craving good sushi all summer long.  I found a decent place in North Carolina while I was there.  But nothing like this!  The atmosphere was colorful and creative but it also had a cold feeling.  It felt as if they were trying too hard to be trendy.  The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were strong!  We had a reservation but it still took 30 minutes to be seated. Our server was attentive and although it was busy, he didn't rush us.  I had edamame, which was cooked and salted to perfection.  I also had an avocado roll and a tamago roll.  They have a secret ingredient in their rice, I can't put my finger on it.  But it made the rice delicious!  Overall it was a wonderful meal!

Heroes and Hutch & Harris

Last night I had dessert at Hutch & Harris in downtown Winston Salem.  It was a gorgeous night, so sitting outside was a must!  The server was friendly and attentive.  My chocolate cake was huge!  It melted in my mouth.  Today it's another gloomy and rainy day.  I think I'm just gonna hang out in my pj's all day and watch movies. :) BTW  Have you seen the trailer for season 4 of Heroes?  Looks good!

The Best Jam

As I was walking around today, I caught a faint whiff of peppermint.  I followed my nose and stumbled into a cute little shop! It's called Earthbound Arts.  They have everything from handmade soaps, art, and bath and body products. I bought some of their jam and it's amazing! The best part is everything inside is handmade by the owners!  So you know exactly what goes in it!

Christopher's New Global Cuisine Downtown Winston Salem

I've driven by this restaurant many times and honestly had no idea it existed!  It's called Christopher's New Global Cuisine.  It's in the middle of a neighborhood close to the downtown area of Winston Salem. The restaurant is inside of an old house and is warm and cozy with seating throughout the rooms. They also have a really nice patio for outside seating.  It was drizzling, so we didn't get to sit there :(  We ordered the Pine Nut Crusted Goat Cheese and Spinach Dip as an appetizer.  I was hesitant to try it because I don't like the sour taste of goat cheese, but it was really good! It came with a few homemade tortilla chips but not enough for how large of a portion the dip was.  For my entree, I ordered a Roasted Baby Portabello and Mozzarella Risotto (vegetarian of course).  The risotto was cooked to perfection!  Everyone at the table ordered a dessert and we all shared them.  We tried the Chocolate Souffle Cake, Strawberry Pie, and Peach Cobbler.  I love chocolate but the Strawberry Pie was my favorite!  It was nice to finally have a great meal with attentive service.

Sushi?

I went to dinner at a sushi spot last night outside of downtown Winston Salem.  Yes I said it! Sushi!! Can you believe it?!?  A bartender from one of our regular spots tipped us off.  The name of the spot is Sakura Japanese restaurant.  Although it doesn't have the best decor, the Sushi Chefs are nice and come up with some amazing sushi arrangements.  I don't eat fish, but I heard from the fish eating peeps that it was good!  And you know any restaurant that has more than just 2 veggie items to pick from is a big plus for me!   It's no Koi, but it'll do!
