Weekend Cruise to Ensenada

Where in the world can someone find a casino, cocktails, all you can eat buffets, and sea sickness all in one place? On a cruise, of course! This weekend Brian's parents took us on a Carnival cruise to Ensenada, Mexico. The weather wasn't exactly the kind of weather I had in mind for a cruise..it was 60 degrees and rainy most of the weekend. But I still had a great time!

Hanging Rock State Park

Today I woke up early due to a noisy neighbor moving out.  Since I couldn't fall back to sleep, I decided to take advantage of the day and go hiking at Hanging Rock State Park. Even though it's only 28 miles away, it takes about an hour to get there.  The park has two beautiful waterfalls and April LOVED running through the woods.  She jumped so high on rocks and over tree trunks! The only downfall is the bugs :(. I was getting attacked by the biggest bugs I've ever seen! They were bigger than April!

The Redneck Riviera

I'm back from my beach getaway at North Carolina Beach. AKA the "Redneck Riviera" as one of the locals referred to it. I apologize for my lack of blogging.  I had no internet service. :(  I stayed at a pet friendly "vintage hotel" right on the beach.  It was a charming hotel which was originally a boarding house then converted into a hotel in 1955.  The owner and his family were very friendly.  The first night we checked in, Brian and I were starving and just wanted to have a nice dinner.  Although the hotel was pet friendly, the town and restaurants were not. We had to leave April (our 7 month old puppy) in her crate in the room.  Which usually is no big deal.  She loves her crate.  But, on this night, she wasn't happy.  She was barking and howling her head off!  We were so upset, we were ready to pack up the car and leave.  We walked down to speak to the owner and apologize for April's behavior (which went on for over an hour) and he offered to watch her while we went out.  We agreed and everything worked out great! After that, she was comfortable and enjoyed our getaway.  I guess she just had first night jitters?
